OBEY

The father of the OBEY brand is Shepard Fairey - American street artist whose social experiment gave birth to one of the most recognizable brands in the world. In the late 80s, Shepard Fairey, together with his buddies from Rhode Island School of Design, created a series of stickers and posters with the image of the wrestling star, André the Giant. They started to mass distribute their work of art to find out how this, meaningless at first, symbol will be received by the public. The name of the brand comes from the classic science-fiction film ‘They Live’. Today, the black and white image of the OBEY brand is an integral part of the pop-culture and follows its own path in the world of streetwear.
