Lacoste

A creator and founder of Lacoste was a famous French tennis player, René Lacoste. In 1926, during the US Open world tennis championship, René Lacoste appeared on the court in a white short-sleeved T-shirt, designed by himself, made from French cotton or jersey petit pique. It should be added that the tennis court fashion at that time was entirely different than today. The players wore long trousers and long-sleeved shirts. Under social pressure, René decided to put on a jacket which was initially known as "La Socjete Chemie Lacoste". The brand logo came from the nickname used by the media, or the Alligator, because of a briefcase made from alligator leather which the tennis player had on him almost all the time. At present, Lacoste stands for high quality of products and a combination of stylish, urban elegance with sport components.
