Dr.Martens

The Dr Martens brand has been known around the world for many many years and is a fundamental part of wider pop culture. Interestingly, they are not a creation of American scientists. The history of Martens goes back to 1945, when a German doctor, Klaus Maertens, was resting in the Alps and twisted his ankle. The shoes manufactured at that time were heavy, uncomfortable and poorly shaped - and that's when the idea of creating a new brand of shoes was born in Klaus' head. It is also worth mentioning that the sole of Martens is resistant to oil, grease, acid, petrol or even alkali. The cult shoe brand The brand's rise to fame came in 1969, when the frontman of "The Who" appeared at a concert in Martens - and commented on his choice; "I was sick of dressing like a Christmas tree". Celebrities such as Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Madonna, Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake and Will Smith have worn Martens.
