ADIDAS HISTORY

If adidas had a soul, it would be competition and innovation – from soccer fields to skateboards rolling on city sidewalks.
It all started in a small German town, Herzogenaurach, where in 1924, brothers Adolf (Adi) and Rudolf Dassler founded a company producing sports shoes. Unfortunately, their paths diverged – Rudolf created Puma, while Adi focused on building a brand that became synonymous with sporty style: adidas.
Adi had a simple philosophy: design shoes that improve athletes' performance. Already in 1954, his cleats helped the German national football team win the World Cup, which was a turning point for the brand. The three iconic stripes quickly began appearing not only on stadiums but also in pop culture – in the 80s, adidas conquered hip-hop through Run-D.M.C. and their legendary track "My Adidas".
The iconic three-stripe logo was acquired from the Finnish brand Karhu in 1952 – Adi Dassler bought the rights to it for the equivalent of today's 1600 euros and two bottles of whiskey. Later, in 1971, the famous "Trefoil" logo (clover) was created, symbolizing the diversity of sports and the global development of the brand.

And how did adidas enter the world of skateboarding? In the early 90s, skateboarding exploded as a subculture, and skaters began looking for shoes that could withstand their intense riding style. It turned out that classic models, like adidas Superstar or Campus, worked great on the board – with thick soles, leather uppers, and timeless design, they captured the hearts of skaters worldwide.
In 1998, adidas entered skateboarding seriously, creating a dedicated line: adidas Skateboarding. The brand began collaborating with legends of the scene, such as Mark Gonzales, who became the face of the collection and brought his unique style to it. Since then, adidas has regularly released models designed specifically for skaters – with reinforced areas prone to abrasion, better cushioning, and classic looks.
Today, adidas is an icon – whether you play football, dance, skateboard, or simply appreciate comfort and style. Because one thing remains the same – the three stripes always represent quality and passion for sport, no matter what field (or sidewalk) you're playing your game on.
